Terms of Service

Last updated: July 25, 2026

1. Acceptance

By downloading or using Skrib, you agree to these Terms of Service.

2. What Skrib is

Skrib is a macOS app that reviews the text you select, corrects it, and explains why. It is a one-time purchase. It can run entirely on a local model, or with your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key.

3. License

Your purchase grants you a personal, non-exclusive license to use Skrib on devices you own or control, for personal or commercial writing. You may not resell, redistribute, sublicense, or reverse-engineer the app.

4. Your AI provider account

If you use a cloud model, you are responsible for your own Anthropic or OpenAI account, for any usage fees those providers charge, and for complying with their terms. Skrib does not include or cover provider costs. If you run a local model, no third-party account is required.

5. Billing and refunds

Purchases are processed by our payment provider. Payments are non-refundable, except where a refund is required by mandatory applicable law.

6. Learning aid, not certified advice

Skrib's corrections, scores, and explanations are generated automatically and may be incomplete or wrong. They are a learning aid, not professional, legal, or certified linguistic advice. For anything important, review the text yourself before relying on it.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the app, interfere with its operation, or use it in violation of applicable laws.

8. Third-party services

Skrib works with the model you configure: Anthropic or OpenAI for cloud, or Ollama for a local model. Their availability and behavior are outside our control and subject to their own terms.

9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Skrib is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties and limit liability for indirect, incidental, special, and consequential damages.

10. Updates and future versions

Your purchase includes updates within the version you bought. A future major version may be offered as a separate paid upgrade.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by French law. The competent courts are those of Lyon, France.
